Chicago > Bay Area roadtrip advice (4-5 days)
Hey all! Moving to Bay Area with my husband and dog and we're roadtripping out there in August. Looking for a few fun/"must see" stops along the way, but trying to get it done in no more than 5 days (due to time/work-related constraints).
Looking at past threads it sounds like the I-80 route can be mind-numbingly dull, so considering an I-90/I-80 combo that looks like the following:
- Day 1: Chicago, Il > Sioux Falls, SD
- Day 2: Sioux Falls > Casper, WY
- Day 3: Casper > Salt Lake City
- Day 4: Salt Lake City > Lake Tahoe (or if we have the stamina we may just go straight through to Bay Area, but that's a 10 hour haul on the last day...yikes...though we are okay with not stopping for scenic fun as we get closer to CA given that we'll be moving out there)
- Day 5 [tentative, depending on Day 4]: Lake Tahoe > Bay Area
Thoughts? Suggestions? Appreciative of any advice/suggestions of where to stop along the way.
