Hi folks! I'm planning to do 3-4 weeks in east Africa this upcoming summer. I've got a budget of about 5k - which needs to include my flight (about $850 from D.C. to Nairobi). Aside from the flight my only other very large anticipate expenses are gorila trekking (which in Uganda I understand runs about $600) and rafting in Jinja which can hit $300 I've seen. That leaves me with about $3300 for food/lodging/transport (and I do not want to rent a car). Is this a reasonable budget if I plan to stay mainly in hostals or camp? Is it fairly easy to move between Kenya/Uganda/Rwanda by bus? Any particular concerns or things to be aware of being a solo female traveler in this region other than the obvious self awareness and common sense?
