Friend made a nasty comment about my travel style change
For years I was known by my friends as a lavish traveler who vacationed at the drop of a hat and stayed in luxury hotels while traveling first class and enjoying airport lounges. However, now that I’m no longer a materialistic person it seems my friends want to abscond me.I travel solo 95% of the time and a friend decided she wanted to join me in luxury. I told her I’m going to a 3rd world country, staying in hostels, and flying economy. She was aghast and snipped, “can you even afford to travel?” My heart shattered. Is it so bad to have a simple and minimalist style that a good friend would insult me for my choices? If only she knew I still get lounge access because I travel so much my Amex fee pays for itself to warrant keeping that card.
