Central Europe or the Balkans from Milan in February?

I’ll be in Milan in January for University and am looking to do some travelling on my own afterwards (Feb-Mar). This will be my second time travelling solo after a short stint in South East Asia earlier this year. The conversion from AUD to EU isn’t ideal at the moment, with 1 AUD equivalent to 0.61 EU (many conversion places are offering 0.58 EU). I won’t have to worry about paying for the flights to and from Europe, as well as accommodation and limited meals during the Uni component of the trip in Milan. My current intention is to travel straight from Milan at the end of January to either Central Europe or the Balkans, spending as long as I can there on a limited budget. I can do a multi-city ticket for flights, so it doesn’t matter where I finish up at the end.I’m just interested to know for either Central Europe or the Balkans where one would start from Milan? At the moment I’m eyeing off heading to Slovenia as the starting point, which would allow me to either head up for Central Europe (Hungary-Austria-Slovakia-Czech Republic) or down into the Balkans. via /r/solotravel http://bit.ly/2WZLCJE
