Critique my Northern Vietnam Itinerary
Hey solo travelers! I will be arriving in Vietnam in May and am looking to explore the north by motorbike while traveling solo. I would love feedback from anyone who has done anything similar while traveling solo to know if my plan is realistic or if I am overlooking any destinations I should include? Also If anyone else is interested in tagging along let me know :)
Here is my route in google maps , Total time around 17 days and each entry counts as 1 day on the road and 1 full day in each destination(or more), start on/around may 19, end june 5
Hanoi- moc chau: 127 miles, 5 hours
Pha luong peak, moc chau tea plantation
Moc chau- dien bien phu: 164 miles, 6 hours
Bunkers, war museums
Dien bien phu- Muong Lay: 64 miles, 3 hrs
Explore or skip and just spend 1 night and continue to sapa?
Muong lay- Sa Pa: 108 miles, 4 hours
Trek rice terraces 1-2 days
Sa Pa- Ha Giang: 147 miles, 6 hours
Rock climbing or general exploring/hiking
Ha Giang- Dong Van Karst Plateau- Meo Vac: 110 miles, 6 hours
Don cao fortress, trek around/explore geopark
Meo Vac- Ban Gioc Waterfall: 163 miles, 7.5 hours
Waterfall, explore
Ban Gioc Waterfall- Lang Son: 111 miles, 5 hours
Mau Son mountain hike to explore ruined military base
Lang Son- Hanoi: 99 miles, 3 hours
End in Hanoi on june 5 and spend a few days relaxing before Ha Long Bay.
