Help me decide: 2 days in Edinburgh or Rome?
Hello!
I'm traveling to Europe and going to be in London, Munich and Copenhagen visiting family and friends. I have 2 days off and am debating on solo traveling between Edinburgh or Rome, mostly because there are 2 places I haven't been before and am dying to go. Having a hard time taking a call with my pro/con list and was hoping to get some advice from experienced travelers!
Dates: 1st week of march Flights: Roughly the same with around $30-$40 dollar difference
Edinburgh: Been dying to go to Scotland for a while now but looked up the weather and its a bit dodgy with quite a bit of rainfall. I wanted to climb up Arthur's seat and really take in the views and am concerned that it's going to be a bit gloomy to do so. Thinking it might be better to go and complete Edinburgh, Glasgow, The Highlands another time! On the other land, it's close to London and I thought I could do a few walking tours around the city that I'm sure will be beautiful. also heard that the weather is ALWAYS unpredictable so not sure if there is ever a "good" time to go. Will absolutely be planning to revisit Scotland.
Rome: So much to do in Rome! I've been dying to go here since watching Roman Holiday :) Weather looks to be pleasant and will not be in the throes of tourist season. Goal is to see as much as I can over 2 days in Rome and on the next trip to Italy, hopefully focus on other areas like Venice, Florence and the Amalfi coast. Con is the fact that I might be biting off more than I can chew and going all the way over there for 2 days might be a waste.
Please give me your advice and if anyone is planning on solo-traveling in these locations, would love to learn your itinerary!
