First solo travel ever! Barcelona, Rome, and Paris, 18 days - questions abound.
Hi! So as the title says, I'm planning my first ever solo travel. I'm going to Barcelona, Rome, and Paris for 18 days at the end of May, and I have a BUNCH of questions for the seasoned travelers here! I've been able to break down days for the different cities (not counting my travel days as real days in the city to do much, just bonus time if I can fit anything in).
I'm hoping to pick your brains for suggestions on hostels for Rome and Paris, or whether an Air BNB is going to be a better option in those cities, and how much of the languages I should try and learn before I go! I have basic French (which is super rusty) and have been learning basic Spanish for the last couple of years, but I want to try and guage how much I should really be trying to get familiar with.
Barcelona
The first day I get to Barcelona my flight lands at 4:30 and then I'm going straight to the hostel (hopefully Hostel One Paralelos or Ramblas). I'm planning five full days here to see the sights, potentially a day trip to Girona as well while I'm there. While I'm here I really want to try a lot of the local food, but I'm concerned about knowing what's what on a menu. Do places have English versions of the menus generally, or is google translate going to be my best option?
Rome
I have five full days in Rome as well, and I'm planning on doing some walking tours for Vatican City, the Colosseum etc. I want to take a day trip to Pompeii, and maybe head to the Amalfi Coast for a day or so if I can swing it! I'm not sure if this is going to be doable, but I don't have as many recommendations/people I know who have been to Rome to consult with!
Paris
Really heading here to see the typical tourist stuff like the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, Champs d'Elysees etc. I'm in Paris for four full days, and fly back to Canada after that.
I've loved reading through this subreddit so far, but I'm getting slightly overwhelmed with all my options while I'm trying to plan specifics!
