Help with SEA Itinerary
Looking for advice. I’ll be arriving at the beginning of the month and leaving right at the end so it will be about a 29 day stay.
I’ll be flying into Bangkok and I’m wanting to see Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam. I’d also like to go to the Full Moon Party and Chiang Mai. Aside from that I’m pretty open. I don’t need any obscure places as this is my first time and I’m fine with just seeing some of the “main” cities. I may cut one of the countries out too if it’s really recommended.
I could skip most of Cambodia but would like to see Angkor Wat since I’ll be so close. And since the Full Moon Party is on the 20th of each month (right?) that will fall during the last 8 days or so of the trip.
I’ve been looking at maps trying to figure out the best order to go in. I also don’t know if I need to book flights in advance or attempt to take busses everywhere. What would you recommend? My budget will allow for flights, but do I need to book them now or can I wait until I’m there?
Here’s what I have so far:
- Fly into BKK
- Spend a couple nights there
- head north to Chiang Mai (train or fly?)
- fly from Chiang Mai to Siem Riep (or take river cruise?)
- take bus to Saigon
- visit a few towns in Vietnam getting there by bus
This is where Im not sure. Do I try to take a bus or train back from Vietnam to get back to Bangkok and go from there or do I fly to Kho Pha Ngon instead?
I’ve tried to format this so it’s easy to read but I may have to edit. Thanks for the advice.
