First solo trip to Paris 18M
I'm an 18 year old guy from England and I'm off to Paris for the first time on my first solo trip in March. I've never been abroad alone before and so this is obviously pretty daunting. I'm only going for a weekend break to celebrate my 19th birthday (it sounds sad that I'm going alone but oh well). I'm staying at a hotel in the 14th Arrondissement for reference.
I've made plans to visit Montparnasse Cemetery, the Polidor restaurant, Deux Magots and Café de Flore. I'm avoiding places like The Eiffel Tower, The Louvre and Arc de Triomphe as they'll be too busy and they don't interest me as much. I'm mainly going to visit the stomping grounds of my favourite philosophers/writers.
The thing is, I've never been to France before and cannot speak French (i have bought a few books and am trying to rapidly learn the language to a basic form at least) and I'm really worried about this making my trip difficult as I don't want to be that rude Englishman who can't speak French. I can say the basics of hello, goodbye, please and thank you, but that's it at the moment.
Does anyone have any essential travel tips for visiting Paris and how to conduct myself to be respectful of the city? Thank you in advance, this is really helpful!
