Washington state to Maine
Hey everyone,
I'm separating from the military and driving by myself starting on April 3rd from Bremerton, WA to my hometown just north of Portland, ME. I'm using Roadrippers to create some stops along the way. I already have Mount Rushmore as a desired stop.
I'm mostly looking for some short to medium length hikes along the way (perhaps 2 hours max) along with some can't miss places for a dinner out. I'm aiming to drive at least 8 hours a day. My time limit is probably around 9-10 days since I have to start looking for jobs and seeing some schools. This isn't a great amount of time but I'm sure I'll be doing more trips in the future, so I don't have to pressure myself into seeing everything.
For the frugal: For lodging, should I try looking ahead for some AirBnB's or just go for Motel 6? I'm also open to sleeping in my car but I've never really done it before. I know Wal-Marts allow you to.
Also, should I be concerned about snow along the way? I have limited experience driving in snow and when I have it's been a struggle (2015 Chevy Cruze). I probably don't have time to get all weather tires but if they're a must then I can try. Thanks!
