What did you over think/over analyse a lot before your first solo trip - which actually turned out to be fine?

Was there anything you really over analysed or got worked up about before your first solo trip - which actually turned out to be fine? 4 months into my first solo trip now and I have two :

1) Safety in South America. Particularly Brazil. I had heard so many warnings saying that getting mugged is inevitable - but in my 2 months in Brazil I had no problems at all as a British guy. The only big cities I visited were Recife and Salvador, and not Rio, so I dunno if that played a factor. However - I do completely understand the warnings to be vigilant!

2) Proof of onward travel. I thought this was going to be way more of a problem than it was and I haven't yet been asked for it - even entering Brazil!
