Bangladesh: Where have you traveled and easily interacted with locals? Where have you traveled and easily interacted with locals? - Bangladesh

Where have you traveled and easily interacted with locals?

I traveled to Colombia this past summer, and my favorite part was how easy it was to have real conversations with locals (who actually want to talk to you too). Colombians seemed generally interested in where we were from and why we were visiting their country. We discussed family and friends, culture, and politics. Clubs were not all tourist or all local either - Colombians and gringos together talked, drank, and danced the nights away.

Have you ever experienced something like this in your travels? Most places I've been, there's a local culture and a tourist culture. In Colombia, locals seemed eager to invite tourists to experience their culture along with them. I'd love to go someplace else where that is possible.

FWIW, I'm a 27yo white American male. I'm social and love going out while traveling, but I'm a history teacher and thus very into exploring local history, culture, and politics. My plans are pretty wide open now...East Asia, South and Southeast Asia (have already been to Thailand and Vietnam), Eastern Europe (have already traveled Western pretty extensively), Africa, and Latin America are all under consideration. Real specific, I know!
