9 days / 8 nights in Paris, France - My Rough Itinerary (please comment!)
Hello all,
I have been meaning to post this for a LONG time, finally getting around to it (given I am leaving for Paris in a little more than 24 hours, haha). Just wanted any feedback on the rough itinerary I set up for my female partner and I. This is the bare bones -> we will likely be adding things to it as needed. Looking for larger picture/glaring things that are good/bad in my itinerary given it's so last minute (YOU ARE GOING THERE? WHY? OH MY, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU AREN'T VISITING XYZ), but any and all advice is welcome and very much appreciated. Feel free to critique me harshly!
2 young adults flying into/departing out of CDG. Pretty much first meaningful trip to Paris, let alone Europe. Have an Airbnb already booked for eight nights near the le Marais/11th/12th arrondissement. Understand it may rain a few days so we may have to switch things around accordingly (trying to avoid doing Disneyland Paris and Versailles on back to back days as they both involve lots of public transit/walking, but rain may not give us much of a choice).
I've budgeted a good amount for this trip for both of us, but I enjoy good deals/saving $ whenever possible so I welcome all suggestions regarding expenses/my itinerary from that perspective as well.
THURSDAY: 1) Fly into CDG. @ CDG, will buy two Paris Museum six day Passes, plan to use them Friday - Wednesday 2) take RER to Airbnb, get euros at partner bank nearby (BNP Paribas). supermarket run to get supplies. eat somewhere nearby. rest.
FRIDAY (we'll probably be tired from the long plane rides + adjusting to jet lag): 1) Musee d' Orsay 2) Eat somewhere nearby/cafe/in the museum 3) Louvre in afternoon 4) Dinner + Nightclub/bar/dancing/shopping
SATURDAY (Saturday and Sunday are interchangeable): 1) Picasso Museum 2) Nearby Le Marais/11th neighborhood district for good shopping, food/restaurants, nightlife, local vibe 3) Dinner + Nightclub/bar/dancing/shopping
SUNDAY (Saturday and Sunday are interchangeable): 1) Notre Dame Cathedral + tower climb 2) Sainte Chappelle 3) Dinner + Nightclub/bar/dancing/shopping
MONDAY (Versailles closed): 1) Disneyland Paris (cheapest tix + lowest crowds)
TUESDAY: 1) Eiffel Tower (not sure if day or nighttime better). Couldn't get tickets online (sold out) so we will just go there and queue up. 2) Champs-Elysees - food, shopping, nightclubs (has free wifi) 3) Grand Palais + Petit Palais (at end of Champs Elysees -> don't think it's included in the Museum pass though)
WEDNESDAY: 1) Versailles day trip
THURSDAY: 1) 10/11 - 10/14 has the FĂȘte des Vendanges, Montmartre neighborhood of Paris (grape harvest festival) 2) Last minute/day sightseeing + shopping + goodbye to Paris 3) Have already booked the Le Calife Dinner Cruise for two on the Seine River
FRIDAY: 1) only have part of a day since I leave in afternoon, she leaves in evening so ????
(a) I ruled out getting the Paris Passlib given our itinerary (want a dinner Seine cruise, more days for the Museum pass, etc). Definitely plan to get the six day Museum Pass. Not sure about whether the Paris Visite Transit Pass is worth it for us? We may just get the stack of 10 tickets (carnet) for the RER and go from there - thoughts? (b) Was thinking about squeezing in a Loire day trip to see the castles - not sure if it is worth it? (c) May try to visit Oktoberfest Paris running from 10/5-10/14 but again, not sure if it's worth it, especially given it's located at the very edge of the 18th/19th arrondissement. (d) We have a list of recommended restaurants/places to eat from a friend + our Airbnb host, but please feel free to let me know of others!
Je vous remercie!
