Hi all -

So, when I found out that my office isn't going back into the office until 2022 today, I was suddenly hyper aware of:

- how I could have worked from anywhere this whole time

- how I may never get the chance to do something like this again (I'm 30, and WFH is a luxury at my job - in 5 years, might have kids etc)

---------

So, I am all in -

It begins in Peru Vermont, where my best friend is getting married at ehend of Septemeber, and the festivites wrap up on 10/4.

Here's my current plan:

  1. Peru VT - 9/30-10/4
  2. Toronto, Canada (likely friends to stay with)
  3. Detroit, Michigan (tbd, drive break up
  4. Ball State University - Muncie, Indiana (my graduate school)
  5. Chicago Illinois (friends to stay with)
  6. South Dakota (Mt. Rushmore, break up drive_
  7. Wyoming or Montana (big sky, break up drive)
  8. Seattle, WA (have friends to stay with)
  9. Portland, OR (likely friends to stay with)
  10. San Francisco, CA (have friends to stay with)
  11. LA, CA (have friends to stay with)
  12. Mesa, AZ (have friends)
  13. Albuquerque, NM (break up drive)
  14. Austin, TX (have friends to stay)
  15. Houston, TX (have friends to stay/friend has 2nd office there)
  16. Atlanta, GA (break up drive)
  17. South Carolina (have friend)
  18. Washington DC (have friend)
  19. New York, NY (back to my best friend where it all began!)

Everything in bold is an absolute must stop (friends live there, family lives there etc)

---------

What I'd like to do:

- Be home before Christmas, 12/25 (Northeast)

- Drive as close to exclusively as I can on weekends

- Keep driving hours under 5

- Avoid any $$$ on hotels (already nearly there)

- Think of someting clever to do in each state, possibly honoring my brother we lost last year

- Lose 30 pounds

- Vlog, Blog, Pics the whole way

-------------

What I'm going into it with the attitude of:

- I honestly can't wait, but if after 1 month, i'm drained? I'll cancelthe rest and drive home

- I have a car, but it has a low mileage lease, so likely going to use my parents and give them mine

- I want to see, do and experience as much as I can; open to anything, but not going to force myselfto go anywhere it if doesn't interest me

-------------

My questions:

- What do you think of the itinerary? What would you change/add/remove?

- What can I do in every state to make a nice memory/scrapbook kind of thing?

- I have money to spend on this, despite probably not spending money on a hotel - but, is there anyone who would sponsor something like this? If I wrapped the car in an advertisement?

- Anything else you think/would suggest!
