What are your favorite small town treasures
With some national parks and few points of interests (must stops) we are doing a trip with things we saw on TikTok. Specific to unknown waterfalls, hikes, oddities, and more. I have placed pins on my google map to provide unique finds throughout the trip.
I flew into Cincinnati last April and did a mini version with my oldest daughter and we loved it. Now I need this in the Fall on a larger scale :)
We are leaving southern California for White Sands National Park, to the Georgia Aquarium (my daughters only request), up to NYC for well her demand of the Harry potter store), Salem and Acadia National Park, taking the northern route possibly through the badlands and some Yellowstone if we can get it in, through Idaho and down through CA, hitting Yosemite and back into SoCal. The idea is New England in the fall (we are leaving Sept 23 and hoping to be in the New England states Oct 1st). We are trying to keep it away from tourist locations (with the exception of our few must see stops) and see those hidden gems in your state no one talks about :)
What are your favorite little known spots in your state. Ideas of interest New York has eternal falls, South Carolina (or is it North) has Fred Symmes Chapel, found a park that you can grab a canoe and paddle the swamp with baby alligators, Virginia has Crabtree falls and NROCK adventures, New Hampshire has the Layfayette dinner train and madaam Sherri's castle, Vermont has Sleepy Hollow Farm, and Warren Falls. We will stop at any old prison tour and cemetery (last April we found P.T Barnums grave with Tom Thumb) I'm sure you get the idea :) We will be in 4WD so okay for those dirt roads that may be bumpy. Central US is empty of pins sadly
