tips for socially distanced roadtrip from DFW to D.C.
hi!
my best friend lives in DC and essentially lost her job due to the 'rona, her lease is up at the end of july. she'll be moving back to TX, and i'm going to be helping her. since we've both been pretty strict about quarantine and it'll be just us, i'm not too concerned about bringing anything with me from home. i'm renting a car on the way up and i'll be dropping it off at D.C. i want to be able to remain successfully isolated to the best of my ability (i understand it's not completely avoidable, but i'm putting in my best effort). i've also never been on a long roadtrip completely on my own (i grew up in tx so long day trips are no big deal, but anything over 9 hrs isn't something i've done before)
- what would ya'll recommend i do for cost-effective lodging on the way up (hotel, airbnb, cabin?)
- which route would be the most scenic? where would i be able to stop while also remaining distanced? (i like photography, so as long as i can get some good shots in, im happy)
- should i split the drive into 2 days, or 3?
i also want to reiterate that i'm taking the pandemic very seriously, and wouldn't normally be going on a roadtrip in these circumstances, but my friend really needs my help and support. i want to have a little silver lining to this year as responsibly as i can while i do this. i appreciate any feedback!
