Running into Schengen Visa application issues while abroad and need some advice
Hey there solo travellers
I rarely post and I hope it's okay that I ask this here. If not, I'll happily post it to the correct subreddit.
My issue is that I am currently a tourist in Israel and I am not a citizen or resident of the country. I am a South African citizen holding a South African passport.
So far all EU embassies I've contacted to get a Schengen Visa while in Israel have told me the same thing: "Unfortunately, because you are not a resident here, we cannot issue a Visa for you". I did not realise this would be such a big issue.
I decided to take my first solo travel experience this year and was not sure where I would head after Israel. I knew it would be a country within the EU (specifically Italy) but I've been going with it spontaneously and didn't have any fixed dates and locations in mind - which is why I didn't apply for a visa in SA as I couldn't produce plane tickets and other required documents.
Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
