Homestay programmes with local families
Hi all, how do you go about finding a family to stay with for a few days in a country? I am graduating uni student from Singapore and I have came across a 50-day programme that allows participants to have homestays in families in SEA and Japan. However there is a 3 months training session prior to that and I have to commit even after the programme. Furthermore, i have to find Singaporean families willing to host the foreign participants. All these for $900 sgd which is a good deal but I feel that the commitment is too long.
I just want to experience the homestay part with local families, have any of you done homestays before? How did you find the families, and were they the type to bring you around the area? Which country did you do as such and how much does it cost you?
