Need some advice on Australia
I got an excellent deal on a trip to Australia over Thanksgiving (end of November for non Americans) flying in/out of Sydney.
I can only go for 10 days in total. This means I will have 8 full days there.
I am most interested in nature related things. Any beautiful hiking. The Great Barrier Reef. Other outdoorsy things. I can see myself seeing Sydney the day we arrive and setting out for nature related things from then until I leave.
My hesitation is with the timing. I always pictured Australia as 2 weeks and New Zealand as 2 weeks. Is it worth it to go if it looks like I’ll only get 7 days for nature there? If so, what would be the big recommendations on things to do. Ideally, I’d like to avoid being on the move daily. So hopefully 2-3 base camps during this time period.
Alternatively, I could use the time off to maybe to Peru and Machu Picchu in September. 10 days (including travel) seems more reasonable to Peru, but I am just excited about snagging $700 tickets to Australia so I’m struggling to decide.
Any advice from those who have been to Australia before? Appreciate it!
