Location advice for 1st time solo traveller
Since a vacation with friends probably won't be happening this summer, I'm planning on going solo for the first time for about 2-6 weeks in August/September, depending on my schedule at university. I'm 28M, from western Europe and money isn't really an issue.
Locations I'm considering in no particular order;
- South-East Asia (like Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines)
- Colombia and/or neighboring areas
- USA (either northwest area/west Canada or down south around New Orleans, Houston, Austin)
What I'm looking for:
- A nice atmosphere for easily meeting people as a solo traveler. Either in hostels or other places and to go visit cultural things or do stuff together; from chilling at a beach to partying.
- A location where you can easily travel from cool cities to beautiful nature to laidback beach areas.
- A location where it's summer during August/September.
I'm not really looking for party-hard locations or hostels. Although I occasionally like going out, I'm not much of a partying-and-drinking-at-a-bar type guy and more of about having drinks and a good time at a nice/chill/laidback location (which then could end up in going out) or going to festivals/concerts.
I enjoy staying in vibrant large cities and at times venturing outside of them to calmer areas to enjoy nature or local cultures.
What specific locations would be advisable from the list above? Or what other locations would you recommend that fit what I'm looking for?
