Fine tuning my first ever solo trip - US East Coast plan

Hi fellas. Next month, I [21M] am planning a trip to some of the major cities on the East coast. It will be a 8-10 day trip with no considerable budget constraints. The cities that I shortlisted are New York, Washington DC, Boston and Philadelphia. I will be staying at hostels in all these cities and I will be travelling between these cities by train (Amtrak). My interests are museums, historic locations, food, hiking and a bit of partying.

This will be my first solo trip and a relatively long one (not just a weekend thing). I hope to meet similar travelling people in these cities so that, I don't end up being too lonely. That is why I am avoiding cities that need access by car and ended up picking the ones that are proper touristy. I have been to the West coast and enjoyed cities like Seattle, San Francisco and Portland (but all these were part of a group).

I have some questions below and it would be amazing if you could address some of them.

1) Have I missed any particular city in the East coast? Hopefully one that will bring a different texture to the trip in terms of the interests that I mentioned above.

2) Or do I remove one of the cities (NY, DC, Philly, Boston) so as to make time and explore the remaining three better?

3) Also, how would you recommend splitting the 8-10 day period among the cities that I mentioned. I was thinking of four days for New York since I will be catching up with a couple of friends there. The remaining days are free to be split among the cities.

4) Regarding the hostels, I am looking at the following - The Local in NY, Hi hostel in Boston, Highroad hostel in Washington DC, Apple hostels in Philadelphia. In your experience, if you had great hostels in any of the above 4 cities, do mention them. I will take a look at them and maybe compare it with my own list.

5) To meet people and find company, I read in previous posts that common area of hostels and city tours are quite helpful. If the people you meet in these locations match your vibe, interests, do you ask them about their plans and eventually go together to some place? Or is it just casual conversation at the common areas/dinner and later seeing the city alone?

6) And finally, I expect the main takeaways from this trip to be the sightseeing and the people I meet. [Am I setting my expectations right?] Considering all that I mentioned above and this, if you have a pro-tip, by all means shower the comment section with that wisdom.
