I'm about to depart for a nine-month mostly solo Eurotrip...
Currently sitting in my hotel near Dover, UK, waiting to get into my car and grab my ferry to Calais. From there, it's a four hour drive to Bayeux, where I'm spending four nights, mostly to take in the Normandy coastline and all the history within.
After that, Europe is my oyster. Plan on doing thirty-one countries, from enormous countries such as France and Spain, to the smallest such as San Marino and Liechtenstein.
Considering I handed in my keys for my place and all my worldly possessions are either in my car, or in storage a couple of hundred miles away, I'm surprisingly not feeling any real nerves. Spent three years saving, then the last few months planning all of this.
And, of course, something has already gone wrong. Was supposed to have two new rear tyres on my car. Only noticed when arriving in Dover they changed the wrong tyres (right rear is still the same). Oh well, guess I'll change it in France!
