A lot of focus on first time solo travel, what about your 2nd time?
Last fall I did my first solo trip, 3 weeks between London/Brussels/Amsterdam/Paris and it was incredible. I came home with a new sense of independence and confidence in myself I’ve never felt before. The trip was in a point of my life where I had left a major relationship and was stuck in a career I wasn’t passionate about so I really wanted to challenge myself to gain some perspective and by doing something I love, travel.
Fast forward to now, on the 13th I’m headed to Italy for 3 weeks on a route that hits Venice, Florence, Cinque Terre, Rome, and Naples. I don’t feel any emotional/spiritual/personal growth motivators for taking this trip other than I’m very interested in Italy and just love traveling. But do I love solo traveling?
My experience will be similar in that I’ll have my 40L pack only, staying in dorm hostels, trains between cities, and no real plan outside of sights I’m interested in seeing.
Not looking for any advice as I’m 100% going on this trip and am beyond excited for my opportunity to visit beautiful Italy. I’m interested in other 2nd time solo travelers experiences and if anything about your 2nd time differed from your first? Did you understand more about if you enjoy solo travel or if the first time was so exciting because it’s a new challenging experience? I appreciate your responses fellow travelers!
