First solo trip to New York
Hi all,
Thursday I will be on a plane to New York. This will not only be my first time in New York, but also my first time solo travelling. I'm looking for some general advice and some tips about my itinerary. I like walking/cycling through the city and viewing some authentic things.
First of all, I want to rent a bike from Friday till Sunday. How is cycling in New York? Any rules I should be aware of?
My current itinerary:
Thursday: I'll be landing on this day and will be going for a short trip to Time Square to get my simcard and I'll walk around a bit.
Friday (all on bike):
-
9/11 Memorial
-
Ferry to Staten Island
-
Brooklyn Bridge
-
Dumbo (Brooklyn bridge park, Washington street)
-
Williamsburg (Brooklyn Brewery, Domino Park)
Saturday:
-
Biking through Upper East Side
-
Biking through Central Park
-
Metropolitan Museum of Art
-
Lower Manhattan (Little Italy, Chinatown, Washington Square Park)
-
Midtown Manhatten (Walking around, New York Public Library + Bryant Park)
-
Top of the Rock (Rockefeller)
Sunday:
- Not planned yet
Monday:
I will be flying back this day, so I'll probably check out Queens (that's where I am staying)
I haven't really planned food yet because there are so many options, it is very hard to choose. I basically like all types of cuisine, but I'm on a budget and solo travelling, so eating at fancy restaurants isn't a good option.
