[23F] First Solo Trip: Peru Itinerary Review
Hi everyone!
I have officially booked a flight to Peru for my first solo trip in June! I had a panic attack when I booked it, but now that I have put together a very loose itinerary, I am feeling way more confident in my ability to do this - and feeling a lot more excited too, as it's been about 2 years since I've taken a real trip somewhere.
Here is a link to the itinerary I've made.
Again, this is very loose. I've only booked the initial round flight to-and-from Lima. The rest are possible flight&train times/hostels/things to explore/places to eat for each day. My budget is $2000 total, but I'm already feeling great about sticking to that - I got my initial flight for only $387!
My biggest questions come down to these:
- What is the best SIM card option/prices of them? I plan on going to Lima/Cusco/Aguas Calientes. I want enough data that would last me 8 days.
- What is the best entrance time to book for Machu Picchu? Do I really need a tour guide to get in? How do they know if you have been in the site for 4 hours? When should I line up for the bus? This is something I want to book sooner rather than later, but I'm just a bit confused on the new rules.
- How much cash should I initially bring on the trip? Is Peru a credit card friendly country or will I have to primarily use cash?
I would really appreciate if you guys could just skim what I have so far and offer any recommendations (restaurants, activities, travel times, things to buy beforehand) or even just confirm that I've chosen good hostels or things like that!
Thanks in advance!
