7 days in Taiwan next month, need help with itinerary
I'll be going to Taiwan for 7 days at the end of March. This will be my second time there, and first time going solo.
Last time we've just been visiting Taipei and surrounds (101, Ding Tai Fung, Jiufen, CKS memorial hall, National Palace Museum) so this time I want to travel to other parts of the country too.
I'm interested in museums, exploring cities, cool architecture, photography, a little bit of politics and of course all the food! Don't feel confident driving so it'll be all public transport and taxis. Temples aren't really my thing. Please give me suggestions on my itinerary below:
Day 1
Land at Taoyuan at noon. Metro to Taipei.
Day 2-4
Taipei
- National Palace Museum (again)
- Presidential Office
- 228 Museum
- SYS Memorial Hall
- Eat guabao and youtiao and soy milk and xiaolongbao (Dian Shui Lou?)
- Midnight book shopping at Eslite
- Half day trip to Yehliu and Keelung night markets
Day 5
HSR to Kaohsiung, stopping on the way as follows:
Taichung
- Rainbow Village
Tainan
- National Museum of Taiwan History
Day 6
Kaohsiung
- Explore the city
- Formosa Boulevard MRT
Day 7
Kaohsiung
In the afternoon, HSR to Taoyuan and fly out.
Other questions:
- Is Day 5 a good idea? Those two things are the only things I find interesting in those cities.
- What to do in Kaohsiung? Rent a bike and explore the city, Main Public Library, Love River cruise, night markets?
