Hi all,

Had no idea this subreddit existed until just now so that's good!

This is a question for folks who have been to New Zealand- how far ahead in advance should I book hostels? Or can I generally just turn up and ask for a bed? I understand that it's quite subjective depending on the time and amount of people etc, but i really don't want to plan too much because it makes the whole experience seem too linear.

Also any places I MUST visit are a welcome suggestion. For clarity I'm heading to Queenstown in March and after that I don't have a plan.
