Poland or central Europe after Berlin?
Hi! So, I (29 F) am planning a two-week trip for my 30th in the fall. The plan is to start out in Berlin, then either go south to Prague->Vienna->Budapest or go east to Wroclaw->Krakow->Warsaw. Both seem like they'd be really lovely and I'm having trouble deciding. Basically, what I'm looking for is:
- Lovely architecture (that includes weird industrial stuff)
- A distinct personality
- Street art
- Local arts scene- galleries, etc
- Music, especially punk and metal. I'm not opposed to going to a club, but that's not my typical scene
- A fashion scene- I love buying pieces from local designers when I'm on trips.
- Moderately friendly locals? Not sure how likely this would be in that part of Europe
- Museums, especially art museums
- Not choked with tourists
For some more background info, my favorite places that I've visited so far are NYC, Mexico City and New Orleans. NYC crackles with creativity, New Orleans has a super welcoming and unique culture, and Mexico City is just this crazy mix of history, creativity and traditional culture.
Each of the cities in Poland has a really pretty core, they all seem awfully affordable, and Warsaw has a growing local fashion scene that might be interesting. Prague, Vienna and Budapest are all supposed to be absolutely lovely, though, and Vienna's the home of some of my favorite artists, but it seems like these places might be more touristy.
