Need help/encouragement to buy the freaking ticket
I’ve been wanting to backpack a Spanish speaking country for a couple of years now to practice my Spanish and explore the culture but keep finding excuses not to. I kept pushing it back and so my spring break this April (I’m an educator) seemed like the perfect time. I had settled on Costa Rica because it seems amazing and also like a great place for inexperienced solo travelers.
But i also got engaged this winter and am getting married this summer, so I’m starting to hesitate again. There’s a lot to plan and pay for for this wedding (and honeymoon), so I’m worried I’ll wish I used my time and money this spring on wedding stuff (even though I loathe wedding planning and think it’s all rediculous).
But I’m also worried I will regret not going-we are talking about having kids soon after getting married and I feel like this might be my last chance to do something like this. I have the money saved up that I would prefer to use on a trip. My fiancé is super supportive so it’s just a matter of pulling the trigger-I think I’m mostly scared about my safety, feeling lonely on the trip and being homesick, and losing valuable wedding planning time.
But I solo traveled to New Zealand years ago and loved the adventure, freedom and the way I connected with my true self. I was also only 25 though, so maybe at 31 I’m too old now and will hate it? HELP!
