Looking for advice in planning a two week road trip in CA.
I'm going to head out to California this summer for a two week road trip with the wife and two kids. I just can't seem to wrap my head around planning it.
List of things we want to do:
- 2 days in Disneyland (the trip happens to coincide with Star Wars land opening, so this might be a disaster)
- 1 day at Legoland (though I could drop it, the kids really want to go)
- 1 day to see WB studio tour and other Hollywood stuff
- 2 nights in San Francisco (I have family there we'll spend some time with)
- Maybe Napa? But that's not super kid friendly.
- National parks (Assuming they'll be open by then right?)
- Yosemite
- Death Valley
- We'd like to drive south on the PCH
The best price on flights I've seen from EWR has been to fly into SFO and out of LAX. But doing that and hitting these spots has me going back and forth from east coast to the west. I'm hoping the round trip EWR - SFO price drops a bit.
Anyway, I'm looking for other things to do or see. I know there's a lot, but what are the fun stuff with the kids. They're generally cool with the National Parks. I'm not sure how cool they'll be with multiple 6+ hour drives in a row.
My wife and I used to do road trips like this but seem flustered now trying to put this one together. I think it's just due to the size of California and how far apart the places we want to see are from each other.
Any suggestions?
