I've never been so happy to be price-gouged before (Coron, Palawan)
I was supposed to leave Coron, Palawan for El Nido today but when I arrived two days ago I was informed that one of the two ferries was out of service and the remaining one was booked until the 26th (now the 27th). This was a problem for me because I already paid for my hotel and plane ticket from Puerto Princesa to Manila on the 28th for a family trip on the 30th.
So, I decided to make the best of it and spend more time in Coron before flying to Angeles and bussing back to Manila. But while browsing a tour agency for my second boat tour, I literally overheard the tour guide talk about a 3,000 peso ferry to El Nido. So, I respectfully butted into their convo and he pointed me in the direction of a travel agency. In my twenty meter walk, it went up to 4,000. After some quick calculations, I determined it was still cheaper than staying in Coron because my flight and hotels are already paid for, and I only lost one day.
So, cheers to me for getting through this by the skin of my teeth!
