Studying Abroad in Florence, Italy for 3 months [20M]
Hey everyone,
I currently leave to study abroad in Florence in a little over a week, and was just hoping to find some general advice from anyone who's been there. This past summer I stayed in Peru for 2 weeks and it was an amazing trip, however I was mentally and physically exhausted by the end of it; with this trip being for 3 months, I'm slightly nervous as I know it will be difficult being away for so long, but I also look forward to the personal growth that will come along with the change.
Do you guys have any recommendations of places to see, things to do, or advice for immersing myself in the culture? This may sound strange coming from someone about to leave to Florence, but I'm not too interested in art; however I absolutely love nature, exploring new places, and having new experiences. I have a budget of about 800 a month (rent is already paid for); is this a decent amount for Italy? I'm a very frugal spender so I doubt I'll have an issue, however I'd like to be able to save enough money to be able to travel around Europe when my trip ends. I also love meditation, so on the off chance any of you know any centers around Florence, please let me know! Just some more background about me, I don't speak Italian, I'm American, I'm half-black and half-white (is racism an issue?), and plan to experience a lot of the nightlife during my stay. I'm sure that I'll learn this on my own but just in-case anyone has any experience, I'd appreciate tips on the dating scene as well.
On another note, if anyone is going to Peru and would like some advice of things to do let me know and I can help you out :)
