US West Coast Campervan Road Trip - 32 Days
Hey,
in June 2019, we are planning a big US West Coast road trip in an Escape Mavericks campervan (roundtrip starting in San Francisco).
Flights and the campervan are already booked, now we want to plan the details and stops. We are going to spend 2 days to visit San Francisco and then pick up the campervan, which we will rent for 32 days. We've already created a rough plan of the route we want to drive:
San Francisco
Silicon Valley
Santa Cruz
Route 1 to LA
Several stops inbetween, like Santa Maria
Los Angeles
Joshua Tree National Park
Mojave Desert
Las Vegas
Valley Of Fire
Zion National Park
Bryce Canyon
Grand Canyon North Rim
Page, AZ -> Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend ...
Oljato-Monument Valley
Moab -> Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park
Salt Lake City
Grand Teton National Park
Yellowstone National Park
(Craters Of the Moon ? Not sure if it is worth the detour)
West Wendover, NV
Lake Tahoe
Yosemite National Park
San Francisco
According to Google Maps, this is roughly a 4200 Miles trip, which should be okay for 32 days.
Unfortunately, the insurance of our campervant does not cover Death Valley during the summer, so it is not an option to add it to our route.
Now I would like to hear your opinion about the route - are there any important stops along the route we've missed out in our planning?
Would you change the route and remove some of the stops in favor of others?
Do you think it is a reasonable route for a 32 days trip?
We definitely want to have some time for hiking etc. in some of the parks.
Which ones would you recommend to spend more time at and which ones are rather "stop by" destinations?
