May/June Roadtrip through Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona
I am going on a 3-week road trip soon with my mother. We will be flying from Europe to Las Vegas and after 3 days there start our trip. Our goal is to see a lot of cool places (Zion, Bryce, RMNP,...) and some cities. I spent last summer in Utah and look forward to going back. This part of the trip is pretty well planned out so far. I've never been to Colorado or New Mexico, so this is where I'm hoping you guys can help me. Our plan is to drive Highway 12 and 72 north in Utah until we hit I-70. We will start our Colorado portion of the trip in Grand Junction. My current plan is to drive to Denver, spend two days there and then head to Estes Park and see RMNP. Afterwards we want to head south to New Mexico. I'll try to attach a picture of my current plan through Colorado. Is it worth trying to drive through Gunnison and San Juan National Forest? If not, my backup plan is to take 160 from I-25 to get to Durango and save time. Any tips on what is good to see in Colorado are appreciated. From my online researc there's just way to many things to see. New Mexico is completely new to me. We want to stay in the northern part since we have to head back to Las Vegas eventually. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance
