Debating how to visit the Scottish Highlands
Hi guys!
I'll be making my way to Scotland in about a week or so. I'm traveling with a few friends to Glasgow on April 10th, and then they're heading off elsewhere on the 14th.
I figure I might stay in Scotland after my friends have gone, though the amount of time I should spend there is what's making me scratch my head. I don't have much sketched out - I have about a week after to do what I please.
I have already been to Edinburgh, though I wouldn't mind seeing it again. I've also spent a semester in Ireland and a friend of mine said if I've seen that, I shouldn't spend a whole lot of time in Scotland if I'm by myself and instead visit friends elsewhere, though I sort of disagree.
Since I can't drive, I asked a Glasgownian friend of mine how I should get around, and he recommended a tour over public transport. I've done some research on them and the two that have come up most are Hairy Coo and Rabbie's. They both seem like very high quality tours for the price, but they also seem quite small. I'm university age and kind of shy, so I think maybe I'd prefer to go with a bigger group of people around my age to make making friends a bit easier.
I have many questions, but I'll try to narrow them down. Those who have been to the Highlands before - Should I spend a whole week there, or would a shorter time suffice? Which tours would you recommend and why? Lastly, I've been told April is a very popular time of year to visit - will I be able to book last minute accommodation?
Thanks to everyone in advance for the advice!
