22/F Traveling Solo to Scotland
Hello! My ex boyfriend is from Scotland, and pushed for me (an American) to intern for the summer there as I need interning experience for graduate school anyway. He planned on housing me (he offered, I said i could find my own housing but he insisted), and I booked a flight for mid may because his family offered to take me on holiday with them before I started. Things fell through, and we broke up. I still plan on going, as I believe this is a really good opportunity for me, and I have begun situating my housing during the summer, but now I will be in a foreign country with nearly 3 weeks of free time and no idea what to do. I arrive in Edinburgh on May 14th, and don't start my internship until the 1st, so I have a bit of free time to explore the UK (and possibly Western Europe). My plane ticket is already paid for, but I still am a college student, so frugal is always the best. I have a sincere appreciation for art/nature, so hiking and seeing monuments is a huge plus for me. I've never travelled alone before, and have never been to the UK, so any advice is appreciated!
