What is so great about meeting locals?
I see alot of hate on this subreddit towards solotravellers who enjoy staying in decent hostels, eat western food all the time and mostly meet other western travellers.
Getting off the tourist trail and enjoying the local culture and meeting locals is so much better, according to many people on this subreddit.
Why? What is so great about visiting a local village in Peru where people are poor and have poor hygiene. What is the interest here? I really don’t get it.
