Why does travel seem so boring once I start planning
So... I'm in Canada and I've been thinking of going to London + Amsterdam for 10 days. This will be my first time travelling alone. The notion seemed really exciting to me at first, mainly because I liked the opportunity to be independent and get to know myself better. And the more I daydreamed about it, the more eager I became. I even ended up buying a new camera solely for the purpose of taking photos on this hypothetical trip. But once I started getting deeper into it, researching what attractions I wanted to see, etc -- my interest quickly waned. It just seemed like a bunch of museums, bunch of historical stuff, boat rides, cafés, fancy old buildings... nothing really earth-shattering. In fact it started to feel boring, and gradually I started to question why do people travel in the first place.
For the record I'm not a very sociable person, so I don't think I'd have fun hanging out with locals. I like art, but I can only appreciate the aesthetics, not the history, and for that reason it just feels like it's not worth it to fly across the Atlantic to look at a bunch of pictures.
Does/did anybody have similar sentiments? and how did you come to get the most out of your travel experience?
