Transitioning from 1/2 weeks solo travel to a 2/3 months
I wouldn’t call myself an experienced traveller compared to some people in here but im getting very good at 1-2 week long trips and want to jump to 1/2/3 months when my time permits. My longest solo was 2 weeks in asia i did HK -> Bali -> Tokyo. Longest in just one city was 10 days in Rio. I feel I’m using these as tester trips for longer stays down the road but can this be a false sense of actually liking a place? What are some roadblocks/pitfalls every1 encounters on longer stays? Laundry? Places to eat? Home cooked meals? Transportation? Companionship?
In Asia i stayed in hotels in all the places so for longer stays i would like an apartment which i did in Rio for 10 days but i ate out most days and never cooked which i love to do back home. Currently in Playa Del Carmen and im thinking i could easily do a month or two here with trips Tulum or vice versa. During the day i usually knock out the sightseeing then at night if im not exhausted i might go to a bar / lounge get a drink or two not a really heavy drinker.
Just wondering what are some things im overlooking by staying places for 1/2 weeks vs longer term stays. After seeing all the sights and the newness wears off what are the challenges people run into.
