Solotravellers with weak passports, what has been your experience, tips, tricks?
It's nice to see that issues such as race and income and age as it pertains to (solo) travelling are discussed in this subreddit but I don't think we have ever had a thread (at least not recently) about travelling with a weak passport.
I personally am from a country with a very weak passport and it's really a big hindrance to travelling. Eg. Found a cheap last minute plane ticket to Japan? Can't take it cause not enough time to get a visa. Eg. Finally managed to get to Japan? Can't take a quick side trip to Korea cause again... visa.
Part of the reason I got a job in the Schengen area is so that I can visit a bunch of countries without having to apply for new visas. This has been a great idea but it's still annoying that I can't for example, go to London for a weekend without applying in advance for a visa, even though it's so close to where I live now (Amsterdam).
What are your stories?
