27m. Heading to NZ solo for a year in 2 weeks for a working holiday. Worried that I don't understand whats about to happen because I don't feel stressed or excited. How did you feel before your first big trip away solo?
Hi all,
Basically the title. I've had this trip planned for 6m. Have £6.2k (NZ$11,700) saved. My IT job is still open to me in the UK if I choose to come back early. I've got visa sorted, bag, CV (but no job lined up), weeks hostel booked in Christchurch. Aim is to get the bank account, IRD, phone, and a car bought the week I land, and from then on wing it. That seems to be the bulk of advice I've got from people who have done the same in the past and it's worked out for them fine.
This is my first time doing anything like this. (Never traveled solo, and longest time away was 3 weeks.) I feel as prepared as I can be, but I'm worried by how unfazed I am right now, that I don't mentally understand the implication of whats about to happen, like it isn't registering. Some other close friends said they we're bouncing between excitement and fear every other day leading up to their trips. I haven't felt anything like that. Anyone else felt similar?
