Solo trip to California in mid April for 2 weeks. This is my first ever visit to this state. Is this a good itinerary?
- Land in LA, picked up by a friend, check out Griffith Park/Observatory, hike the trail there to see the city and see the Hollywood sign.
- Next morning drive to Joshua Tree for a retreat that spans the weekend.
- Check out the Mojave Desert (possibly) before getting dropped off in LA. Board a Greyhound to SF for $21.
- Explore SF for 2 days (Golden Gate Park, SoMa, Union Square, Chinatown, Wharf).
- Rent a car and cross over Golden Gate Bridge, check out Muir Woods, drive to Yosemite.
- Spend a 3 days at Yosemite, drive to Big Sur and spend 2 days there, drive along PCH for a day before returning car.
- Fly home from SF.
I know I could spend more time in LA and SF, at each of the parks but I can't afford the money or time. I am trying to figure out where to shift days around, what to do in each city to get a feel for them, what to do in Yosemite and Big Sur, if I should cut anything out to save time for something else on the list. Open to suggestions and ideas, money saving tips.
Thanks for helping!
