Planning a road trip in early Fall from Virginia -> Maine and back. Looking for suggestions of places to stop along the way!
Hey guys, so as the title says I am planning on taking two weeks of vacation and taking a roadtrip (most likely solo) for sometime in early Fall to Maine. Probably September-ish.
I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia, so obviously that is where I'm starting. I like to plan several stops along the way on trips like this in order to break up the monotony of driving, and also I just want to see interesting things in the United States. I mostly look for things like interesting towns, parks, hiking attractions, and just some unique things in general.
My destination is Acadia National Park in Maine, but I'm planning on stopping in Baltimore along the way to stay with a friend for the evening. Aside from that I'm not set on anything. I've considering going to Niagara Falls, but that does take me a bit out of my way so I may save it for another time and try to keep the route relatively linear.
Thanks again. I'm just in the brainstorming process right now for this whole thing so any suggestions are appreciated.
