I want to volunteer in helping/teaching children in need abroad but I don't want to go alone
I'm a 21 year old Irish student about to finish college. I've been thinking a lot about how spoiled, lucky and non appreciative of this I've been so now I want to volunteer and give back to the children in need who haven't been as fortunate as me.
The only problem is I don't want to go alone. I want to go with some other people around my age that are also interested in doing this, but I want to know if there's a website or anything similar where I connect with others willing to do this.
Lastly, how do I avoid voluntourism? There are volunteer projects websites that I can pay to organise my flights, accommodation, visa etc. but after some research I've read the cons that these businesses just want your money which could be given to the charities instead. But for me, the price of flights to Africa or Asia plus all other expenses mentioned comes to around the same price as going with the volunteer projects websites? What should I do?
