Going from SE Michigan through Badlands, to Glacier National Park, then Seattle and back. Am I better of taking the same route back, or enduring Nebraska and Iowa?
Title basically explains it. Michigan until SD appears pretty boring no matter which way I go.
On the way back we’re going to hit Yellowstone. After that the options are either Nebraska/Iowa or meet back up with the original path around Rapid City, SD. I don’t love the idea of following the exact same path for a pretty long stretch, but on the upside I’d get to camp in the Black Hills twice and see the Badlands twice, and never have to see Nebraska. Driving time is close enough to equal. There is also the option of driving across North Dakota, but that does not seem like an improvement.
Edit: I also just found a route that takes 80 across Iowa, cuts up 29 to Sioux Falls, and somehow saves half an hour. Not really sure that’s an improvement, still Iowa, but at least the only part I’m doing twice is the best part.
