Finding casual/seasonal work in the Yukon (Canada)
Hello solotravellers
I have recently applied for the Canadian working holiday visa which lasts for 1 year (from the UK) and would be looking to spend at least 6 months in the country.
I have set my heart on exploring the most wild and remote parts of Canada e.g. the Yukon territory. Considering setting up base in either Whitehorse or Dawson City.
I was hoping for some advice on how easy it would be to get basic work e.g. bar work, hotel work, manual labouring in these areas? I've heard that there is a tourist season in some areas, so could there be jobs attached to that? Are there any specific websites/pages that would be beneficial to keep an eye on?
Whilst I have saved up a decent amount of money, a stay of over a couple of months would really eat into my savings, so finding some kind of employment would be ideal. My experience is mostly in the brewing and distilling industry (this is what my degree is in) but I understand this is a pretty niche market. I also have experience in grounds-keeping/landscape gardening, so am no stranger to a bit of manual labour.
Also, do you have any information/advice at all that you think would be useful for me to know?
Thanks in advance
