Thailand in the High Season; can I just wing it?
What's up guys?
Planning to spend 15 days, mid-December to early January, in the gorgeoussssss Thailand.
Ok, so I'm trying to figure out an island/beach experience to go to and have no idea because they all sound so friggin amazing. Krabi. Railay. Ko Lanta.
I also want to do Chiang Mai and ring in the New Year there.
Here is my question:
Do I have to book hostels and domestic flights inside Thailand right now, or will they still be open/available when I'm in country?
Personally, I'd like to have flexibility to spend one day in Bangkok or 4 days, and then head to the islands, spend time jumping around, seeing what's what, and then booking my accommodations on the spot at the beach I like the most.
And then, when I'm tired of that (which honestly will likely be never), booking a flight to Chiang Mai and back to Bangkok.
Anyways, can this be done in the high season? For a reasonable price?
I looked up roundtrip flights for a hypothetical Bangkok-Chiang Mai trip tomorrow and they're pretty economical right now. Isn't Thailand in high season right now as well? Will this stay true in the next few weeks?
