Japan used to bring the worst levels of social anxiety out of me, but I overcame it and it feels amazing.

I remember when I was living in Yokosuka, I was too intimidated to venture out and explore Japan, let alone by myself. Over in Sasebo I traveled to Nagasaki by myself, Imari by myself, and Omura by myself--and each time, I built an experience that I'll never forget. I also did this while only having a small form of a plan and pretty much just improvising my way through it. I took the bus to Nagasaki and Imari...and it wasn't scary. It was actually very, very cool to just sit down and relax and see the sights while listening to music. When I went to Omura, it was the first real time in Japan that I took the train from one place and then back to where I came. It wasn't intimidating at all and it just goes to show that if you're willing to step outside of your comfort zone, you can really build some amazing life experiences that will stay with you forever. So just to get this off my chest, I just want to say that I am so happy with how much I've grown from my time in Yokosuka to my time in Sasebo. Life doesn't scare me, and it excites my soul to know that. I went to restaurants, visited the sights, and overall had a blast. To hell with social anxiety! I'm a new man, and it feels glorious.
