Advice for first Solo trip-Thailand and Laos or Cambodia
I am planning a trip to Thailand from December 11-January 10 and was looking for some advice.
I have the first two weeks planned, spending the first couple days in Bangkok, then heading off to Chiang Mai, then Pai, then Chiang Rai. At this point i am having some trouble and is where my questions come in. Where to spend Christmas/New Years? I am less worried about Christmas since I don't believe it is really a holiday in Thailand, but New Years my initial plan was Koh Phangan for the New Years Eve party but everywhere seems to require 6 days for booking which is too long to spend there.
After thinking the Islands in Thailand might be quite busy during that time (Dec 25-January), I was thinking of spending the second half in Laos or Cambodia. Laos- Luang Prabang and Vang Vieng. Cambodia-Siem Reap, and Phnom Penh.
I was wondering peoples experiences with Cambodia and Laos and any recommendations they might have. I will probably decide what route to take once i am actually there and meet some people.
