Ideas on adventurous destinations for January 2018
my love and I have just married and are planning our honeymoon for january. we're both 'off the beaten path' types and will be avoiding anything prepackaged or resort-style.
we're overwhelmed with the options available to us, so want to hear what you'd do with about a month in january. money's not tight, but we don't want to go overboard either.

my favourite trips to date have been patagonia and the trans-siberian railway
his favourite trips have been living in japan and doing coral restoration in vanuatu.
we had our hearts set on tibet until we looked at the weather in january so will save that for another day. other ideas bumping around in our heads include an overland journey through south east asia, the galapagos islands, or open water kayaking around the whitsundays.
we'll be flying out of sydney if that helps at all.
any suggestions are welcome!
